Local crimefighters honoured

During a glitzy ceremony at Liverpool’s Liner Hotel, local resident Lynn Arnold was presented with the runners-up award for Crimestopper of the Year.

Plucky Lynn, who completed a Crimefighters training programme - which coaches citizens to play a stronger role in fighting crime, helped secure anti-social behaviour orders against a group of youths causing trouble in her community by giving evidence in court.

Meanwhile St Helens Council’s CCTV team was also honoured at the awards – picking up the Retail Crimestopper of the Year title.

The team was nominated by Business Crime Reduction Co-ordinator at St. Helens Chamber, Mike Noonan, who said, “I nominated the team for the Crimestoppers award in recognition of the impact they have on crime reduction throughout the borough, especially in the town centre.”

Councillor Sue Murphy, Cabinet Member for Safer Communities, Neighbourhoods and Youth said, “ We’re very proud of our winners - they should be recognised for all of the hard work they do to help keep St. Helens safe.”
