Crime and Disorder Reduction Partners 'Spring Into Action!'

The multi-agency operation called 'SpringWatch' will see partners working together to provide young people with a number of free diversionary activities and to reduce anti-social behaviour by increasing policing to priority areas.

With funding from St. Helens Council's Safer Communities Team, Helena Partnerships will give younger residents the chance to get active at 'Ramp Rider' Skate Parks and 'Roll Up Roll up' Wall-Climbing sessions; St. Helens Council Youth Service will hold a number of free arts and crafts sessions, and The Fire Support Network will provide Cage Football sessions to young footballers in Moss Bank.

Merseyside Police will also target areas that have previously suffered from anti-social behaviour by increasing uniform bicycle patrols to woods, parks and open spaces and by carrying out additional Quad Bike patrols in areas experiencing off- road vehicle nuisance.

Rod Jones, Anti-Social Behaviour Manager for Safer Communities, St. Helens Council says, " Although anti-social behaviour continues to fall in St. Helens we have noticed an increase in some rowdy behaviour in Spring when the nights get lighter and the days get warmer. We want to combat this by paying extra attention to vulnerable areas, and by providing young people with some fun diversionary activities to get involved with."

Chief Inspector Mike Constantine says, "We are committed to tackling anti-social behaviour in St. Helens and will continue to work together in partnership to keep our Community safe."
