Pledge your support to end domestic abuse
St.Helens Council is renewing its efforts to end domestic abuse
in support of the national White Ribbon Campaign, inviting local
people to pledge their support.
The White Ribbon campaign was devised by an entirely male group to
end violence against women, but St.Helens Council want to expand on
that aim, and their message is simple: domestic abuse knows no age,
gender, race or religion.
The White Ribbon Campaign follows the well-received 'Be a Lover,
not a Fighter' campaign, which aimed to stimulate conversation
about domestic abuse, thereby eliminating the associated
stigma.
Domestic abuse involves a wide range of violent or controlling
behaviour. St.Helens Council, one of many local authority White
Ribbon supporters across the country, wants to ensure that all
victims have access to appropriate services and feel effectively
supported.
So, no matter the circumstances, all who have suffered or who are
currently suffering abuse, whether physical, emotional, sexual or
even financial, are encouraged to come forward and report the crime
to the Independent Domestic Violence Advocate on 01744 743
200.
They can also email: [email protected]
advice.
