Your views on crime and anti-social behaviour

St Helens Council, Merseyside Police and other local agencies which form the Community Safety Partnership (CSP) are inviting residents to fill in a short survey on crime and anti-social behaviour in their area.

Whether it is anti-social behaviour, drug related crime, hate crime or other problems that you consider to be priority issues where you live, the council and its partners would like to know how well you think the authorities are doing in tackling crime in your neighbourhood, how well-informed you are about the work that is being carried out to reduce it, and how safe you feel in your area.

The nine question survey then goes onto ask residents their views on the contribution of the council's CCTV service, which currently has more than 100 CCTV cameras across the borough operating 24 hours a day, to see if they think CCTV cameras should be used to openly monitor activity in public places for the purpose of reducing, deterring and detecting crime - and if CCTV monitoring in public places reduces crime.

St Helens Council's Cabinet Member for Community Safety, Councillor Lisa Preston said: "The council and its partners take all types of crime and disorder issues seriously, but we would like to know what the public thinks we should be prioritising and how we can further improve in order to significantly reduce crime and anti-social behaviour.

"That's why we're encouraging as many people as possible to complete the survey. We value all feedback and will use it to determine policies and actions to help fight crime and keep St Helens a safe place to live, work and visit for everyone!"

Surveys can be completed online by visiting http://applications.sthelens.gov.uk/ConsultationSuite/SurveyIntroduction.aspx?id=414 or can be picked up from the contact centre in Wesley House.
