Stevenson House Residents Take a Bow

Disabled residents of Stephenson House, Rainhill, have been thanked for the part they’ve played in helping to create a community garden at Moss Lodge in Parr, St Helens.

The site - previously a haulage yard – was reclaimed by St. Helens Council for local use and has been the focus of an ongoing regeneration project through Community Payback – a scheme which sees offenders working on projects that benefit the community.

The thank-you event was organised for the residents of Stephenson House for their continued support for the project - by tending to the garden, recycling and planting flowerbeds.

The celebration was organised by Community Crimefighters – local people who give up their time to help improve communities and reduce crime and anti-social behaviour.

Councillor Sue Murphy, Cabinet Member for Neighbourhoods, Safer Communities and Youth, said: “The Stephenson House residents have played a key role in the success of this project and we’re delighted that their contribution has been recognised.”

The community garden is used by many members of the community, including the Avenues Tenants and Residents association for community events, as well as local residents - including those from Stephenson House.
