Young people fired up for safer bonfire night
The group teamed up with Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service and
its partners to clean up the area around Four Acre, distribute fire
safety leaflets to residents and highlight any firewood or rubbish
that needed to be moved by the bonfire removal teams.
The project was organised by Neighbourhood Firefighter Ian
Clarke, as part of the bonfire removal scheme which started in
Merseyside last week to reduce the number of anti-social behaviour
incidents and nuisance fires.
He said: "It's a great way of encouraging young people to really
make a difference in their local area. Not only are they taking
pride in their estate but they are keeping local residents safer
from the risks of nuisance fires too."
Staff from Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service have been working
alongside the five local authorities on Merseyside to rid the
streets of potential bonfire material in the run up to November
5th.
They have been out and about across the region removing
combustible waste such as fly-tipping, general rubbish and bonfire
materials.

of wood or combustible materials by calling St. Helens Council
