Reassurances over gunshots.

Community safety partners across St.Helens have reassured residents everything is being done to prevent recent incidents of gunshots and anti social behaviour.

Bad behaviour and two incidents of guns being fire were experienced at Derbyshire Hill Road over the New Year.

Residents were left worried by the incidents which are believed to have stemmed from a local dispute.

Members of St.Helens Community Safety Partnership which includes St.Helens Council and Merseyside Police, have moved to allay fears saying all is being done to make things safe.

The recent incidents involving firearms discharges are currently being investigated by detectives from the Matrix CID  who are asking residents for their  assistance regarding any information they could provide.

There are special measures that can be put in place to protect the identity of individuals and often statements can be given anonymously.
 
Extra resources from the Matrix disruption team, firearms and other specialist departments have been provided to reassure the community and deter further incidents.  

Councillor Sue Murphy, Cabinet Member for Family Intervention and Safer Communities said:  “Everyone is working extremely hard to ensure that such incidents are not repeated and that the offenders are traced and brought to justice.  Such behaviour will not be tolerated.”
