ASBO for 12 year old
Michael Hamilton, aged 12, of 10 Riding Close, Clock
Face, St.Helens has been issued with a two year Anti-Social
Behaviour Order (ASBO) at St.Helens Magistrates Court - Thursday
4th April.
St.Helens Council made the application following a
number of complaints from residents and local business in the Four
Acre Shopping precinct about his nuisance behaviour which
included:
- Throwing mud and egg at elderly residents windows in the Clock
Face area;
- Climbing onto roofs of buildings;
- Swearing at residents and staff working on the Four Acre Lane
Shopping Centre;
- Intimidating members of the public with his behaviour;
- Asking a member of the public to purchase a box of fireworks
for him; and
- Setting fire to fencing.
Michael Hamilton's two year order prohibits him
from:
- Engaging in conduct causing or likely to cause harassment,
alarm or distress to any person not of the same household as
himself.
- This may include, but is not limited to,
- Shouting and swearing
- Lighting fires or attempting to light fires
- Climbing onto or being on the roof of any building
- Having fireworks or lighter in his possession.
- Being within the Four Acre Lane shopping Centre and surrounding
area unless he is accompanied by named members of his family.
- Associate with Leon Goodier, Nathan Williamson, David
Williamson or Anthony Thompson in any public place.
Councillor Richard McCauley, Cabinet Member for
Environmental Protection and Safer Communities said: "It is vital
that young people understand the consequences of their bad
behaviour which could easily lead them into a life of crime. No one
has the right to make other people's lives a misery and we will
continue to work with our partners to clamp down on bad
behaviour."
Jason Pulford , Acting Neighbour Inspector for the
Clock Face area, added: "Michael Hamilton is now seeing the
consequence of his behaviour. I want to send a clear message to
those individuals who cause misery to others that Merseyside Police
will not tolerate anti social behaviour and we will continue to
work with St Helens Council and other partners to take action
against those who continue to bring misery to the lives of people
who live and work in the Clock Face area.
It is important for the local community to report any
breach of Michael Hamilton's ASBO to the Police on 101 or to
Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 to ensure that swift action can be
taken. If found guilty of a breach of an ASBO Michael could be
liable on conviction to a two year detention and training order, a
fine or both.
